Camberley Gets a Community Van

The Saint Vincent de Paul Society Camberley, (SVP), an ecumenical group supporting the local community, recently acquired its own van which will make its work in the community more effective.

The Rotary Club Camberley and SVP will be working together to transport large items of furniture and white goods to families in the community.

“We are enormously grateful to the Camberley Rotary Club for helping us in this venture said John Looby, president of the local SVP, in the past we have been unable to transport large items, now we can. Items like beds, chairs, tables, cookers, fridges, etc., things that many of us take for granted.”

Mr Derek Dearmer, Secretary of The Rotary Club, Camberley said “the club has been looking for a worthwhile community project for some time and one that is going to give practical help to people in need. The opportunity to join with the SVP in meeting this criterion is considered by the club to be ideal and we look forward to working with the society members. The logo on the van will show the commitment of the Rotary Club and the SVP to the local community.”

The van was blessed by Monsignor Richard Madders, Parish Priest at Camberley and Bagshot Parish, outside St Tarcisius Church Camberley on Sunday 28th June. He commented “we have been in desperate need of a large van and the SVP van will be of tremendous benefit to many. We are most grateful to SVP and the Rotary Club for their generosity and the dedicated support they give to those less fortunate.”
